Research opportunities at QIMR

The Queensland Institute of Medical Research (QIMR) is seeking expressions of interest from mid-career and senior researchers who share our vision of better health through outstanding basic and translational research.

QIMR is experiencing a period of unprecedented growth in our research capacity, which coincides with the opening of our new, state-of-the-art facility in early 2012.

Our research is conducted across three program areas covering Cancer, Infectious Diseases and Mental Health/Complex Disorders and through six departments: Immunology, Genetics, Population Health, Computational Biology, Biology, Cell and Molecular Biology.

We are particularly interested in hearing from individuals with recognised expertise in any of the following research  areas and also welcome expressions of interest in any other area of relevance to QIMR:

  • Computational biology (including systems biology, bioinformatics and statistical genetics)
  • Basic immunology (to underpin research of relevance to translation)
  • Cell and molecular biology of relevance to mental health studies
  • Cancer pathology
  • Prevention trials for cancer control
  • Imaging (from microscopic imaging of the cell to large-scale multi modal imaging of systems and whole organisms)
  • Infectious diseases (with a special emphasis on tropical health infections caused by bacteria, viruses or parasites and Biological Control Strategies)
  • Drug discovery
